Facilities Maintenance and Compliance Technician - West

Job Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance and Compliance Technician will work to maintain efficient and smooth operation of the physical jobsites for Hattenhauer Distributing Co. This individual in this role will perform a wide variety of general and specific maintenance tasks; assist in the remedial and preventive upkeep of building equipment and systems.

 Supervisory Responsibilities: None


Essential Functions (in a typical workweek):

Any employee may be required by their manager to perform any of the duties described in their position description, and other duties which may be necessary or desirable for which the employee is qualified.

·        Basic plumbing skills (toilets, sinks, faucets and replacement of water heaters). 

·        Basic electrical skills – test circuits, coordinate with electrician(s).

·        Troubleshoot a number of mechanical issues in the field. 

·        Change fuel filters.

·        Monthly station walk-through inspections

·        Maintenance and oversight of monthly log of HVAC filter changes for all stations.

·        Order and maintain an inventory of the various HVAC filter sizes for all Hattenhauer stations. 

·        Visual and hearing inspection of the HVAC system when making the filter change.

·        Maintain an inventory of pump dispenser parts that are most frequently needed:  CPU’s, product select boards, personality boards, lower I/O boards, various wiring harnesses, lift to starts, pump handle switches, pulsers, internal pump screens and parts.

·        Maintain an inventory of hanging hardware parts: Break-a-ways, whip hoses, swivels, station hoses, nozzles. Gas, Diesel (on-road & off-road), DE

·        Maintain inventory of various parts: Inside store receipt printers, battery backups, fire extinguisher supplies, card reader cleaners, inside store lighting (various lengths and types), common plumbing parts for sinks, toilets and faucets, squeegies and additional product(s).

·        Maintenance of store equipment, such as ice machines, hot cases, fountain dispenser drains, etc.

·        Replace water filters on water filtration systems, if installed.

·        Maintain records in compliance with DEQ and various safety assessments.

·        Monthly inspections at all Bulk Plants, which includes the yearly Air Quality Compliance Report for DEQ.

·        Prepare, present and request vendor estimates and detailed budget proposals to CEO for repairs, maintenance and replacement of equipment and components.

 Secondary Functions (in a typical workweek):


The individual in this position may be asked, on occasion, to assist other positions as needed/necessary.

·        Assists with janitorial tasks when required.

·        Responds to emergency, after hours, calls for security issues or building repairs when required.

·        Assists with coordination of ice and snow removal at company owned properties

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

       Excellent customer service skills.

       Good verbal communication skills.

       Knowledge of how to calibrate fuel dispensers using a 5-gallon Prover to maintain compliance with Weights & Measures. Respond to non-compliance tags.

       Knowledge and understanding of the basic functions of the stations ATG (automatic tank gauges): alarms, warnings, tests and reports that are needed monthly for DEQ.

       Ability to follow procedures when working in the turbine sumps and working on the turbines themselves. Examples being: removing fuel/water from the turbine sumps and maintenance of sump alarms sensors. Changing out leak detectors and check valves on turbines.

       Must be diligent, observant, detail-oriented and maintain safety protocols due to hazardous work environment.

 Education and Experience:        

·        High school diploma or GED and 1 year of additional education or vocational training.
·        6-18 month of directly relatable work experience required.
·        Class A/B UST certified in Oregon and Washington required (or ability to get certified within 30 days of hire).

A combination of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of education preferences.

Physical Requirements:

       Prolonged periods of standing, crawling, crouching, bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, pushing, lifting.

       Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

       May need to work nights, weekends, and holidays on an on-call basis

       Ability to perform repetitive movements over long periods of time.

       Must possess a valid drivers license and clean driving record for insurance purposes



Work Environment:

       General retail environment, conducive to outside weather elements depending on the project, which may contain exposure to moderate levels of noise in a moderate to fast-paced environment.  Some weekend and evening hours may be required during peak times and/or for emergencies.  Frequent face-to-face contact with colleagues and customers.
